The network commands inspect the execution client’s devp2p surface through the standard net namespace and the read-only methods in Reth’s admin namespace. Use these commands to answer questions such as:
  • is the node listening, and how many peer sessions are established?
  • what devp2p identity and ports does this node advertise?
  • which clients, directions, and protocol capabilities are represented by its peers?

Status

Show listening state, peer count, and network ID.

Node

Show this node’s identity, addresses, ports, and protocols.

Peers

Inspect established peer sessions and capabilities.

Prerequisites

Enable net for network status and admin for network node and network peers:
Rex connects to http://127.0.0.1:8545 (localhost:8545) by default:
Use the global --rpc <URL> flag to target a different endpoint.
The admin namespace also contains methods that can change the node’s peer set. Keep an HTTP endpoint with admin enabled bound to localhost or another trusted interface. Rex’s network commands only call the read-only admin_nodeInfo and admin_peers methods.

Namespace Boundary

network status uses portable net methods. network node and network peers use the non-standard admin methods supported by Reth and other execution clients. If an admin-backed command returns method not found, add admin to --http.api and restart the node.
